Badlands, SD 7/25 - 7/27

Today we drove the 80+ miles to Interior, SD which is on the South East side of Badlands National Park. We are staying at the Badlands/White River KOA just outside of Interior. By the way, the population of Interior is 68. This is a nice park, it is out of the way so it is quiet and the sites are fairly wide.

When you visit the Badlands you have to visit Wall, SD and stop at Wall Drug Store, "The Free Ice Water" store. Of course now it is far more than just a drug store. It covers almost the entire city block with separate departments selling everything a traveler would want, clothing, boots. food, art works, etc. However, I don't recall seeing a pharmacy at the drug store.

On Wednesday we took a couple of early morning hikes in the Badlands. This hike included climbing a ladder to get up to a second level where, after a short walk, we had a panoramic view of the prairie. The picture on the right is a long distant view of the ladder and the wash we walked up to get to it.

This is a view from the first walk we took. The valley was like a miniature Grand Canyon.
