Eureka, CA 5/22 - 24/00
|Another short trip today, only about 70 miles. We decided to stay in Eureka for a couple of days because it is the largest town on the Northwestern California coast. We have been having problems with the engine battery and I decided to stop at a Ford dealer to have it checked. We would also like to see Mission Impossible: 2 and there is a movie theater in town that will be showing it on Wednesday.
We are staying at the Mad River Rapids RV Park in Arcata, CA. Arcata is just North of Eureka. As you can see from the picture, it is a very neat and well-groomed park. However, Woodalls indicated the sites were an average of 40 feet wide and they are far from that. They are more like 25 feet wide.
|This house in Eureka caught our attention. It was a lumber barons house in the past; today it belongs to a private club. Eureka seems to have two major industries, fishing and lumber. As you can see from this house, lumbering was very good to the original owner.|
