Stafford, VA 8/31 -

We got up early today so we could get through the DC area before the rush-hour hit and we did it. We arrived at the Aquia Pines RV park about 2:30 this afternoon. After we had completed setting up we drove back to Alexandria to visit Matthew and Eleanor and their new (to them) house.

Here they are, Matthew and Eleanor, the proud homeowners.

Here they are in front of their house on Monroe Ave in Alexandria, VA. It is a darling house in a wonderful old neighborhood that is convenient to everything. Shopping, restaurants, parks, metro, etc.

I have been helping Matthew remodel the basement. Removing and building walls, installing wiring, deciding what to use for doors, walls, etc. It has been fun. Meanwhile, Susan has been cleaning radiators, scraping paint and whatever else she can find to do. .

On Sunday we were invited to Bob Stableski's for Brunch. Bob is living in a wonderful condominium in Arlington. It is also centrally located so he is near the Metro, shopping, restaurants, etc.

The first day we were at Matthew and El's house, Matthew mentioned that he wanted to redo the basement into a couple separate rooms. The main room would be his office/computer room. The next thing I knew we were clearing out the basement and starting on the room. As you can see, we made quite a bit of progress. The picture on the left is about day 3 and I took the one on the right the day we left.

Here Matthew is preparing a delicious meal of Chinese dumplings stuffed with pork. He makes these from scratch and steams them in a steamer he purchased on his last trip to China. He is quite the chef.

This is a 360 degree pano of their neighborhood.
