Day 27 - Travel to Fort Providence, NWT

When many of us left the park today, we discovered the trucked-in water supply exhausted... so, we took option #2 and went to the city facilities to fill up with water before leaving Yellowknife.

About noon, a number of us ended up at the same pull-out to have lunch.

Once again we saw Wood Bison along the road. Here we see a female and a male,

and their calf about 25 yards up the road.

Fortunately, this lone gentleman stayed on the side of the road and just kept on walking. (Ed Rzepka)

The road between Yellowknife and Fort Providence looks like this for much of the trip.

Ed was able to catch some natural beauty as we passed many small ponds like this one. (Ed Rzepka)

Here Ed spotted a cabin on the far side of the pond which intrigued him. (Ed Rzepka)

He also found these two cranes walking beside the road. (Ed Rzepka)

At 5:30 PM this evening we gathered for a trip briefing and these aliens showed up. Well, actually they were our Caravaners in their mosquito netting!

Early in the trip, Pat asked everyone to buy a can of vegetables and give it to her and this was the result: a wonderful thick vegetable beef soup accompanied by Jim's delicious home made bread. What a treat!

After we ate, Pat had some more prizes to give out. Here Darlene shows off her soda can cozy, and Marge has a laugh over the wine bottle decoration she received.

Mary seems perplexed by her prize of a rubber pot holder, sure to give her a secure, protected grip,

and Carol is pleased with her new Loony Tune. It holds Loony and Toony coins. (The one and two dollar Canadian coins.)
